General Manager

APCO Limited is seeking to engage a General Manager to drive sustainable revenue and margin growth across the entire brand portfolio and to create strategies and metrics to ensure the business stays on track with its objectives whilst exceeding targets.

The Position
Based in Malta and reporting to the Board of Directors of Apco Limited and the Harvest Technology plc CEO, the General Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Company, including planning and implementing a sales strategy for an assigned list of existing customers, whilst also actively seeking new potential customers and leads together with the Sales team. The General Manager will work with various departments on budgeting, sales processes, and marketing strategies to ensure the company can achieve its goals.

Roles and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Creating and executing a commercial strategy aimed at accelerating growth whilst strengthening the company’s vision, values, and brand promise.
  • Growing the business through client acquisition and sales – identifying new business opportunities and optimizing the customer lifecycle, starting from awareness and acquisition all the way through to retention.
  • Driving an ambitious acquisition culture to scale the business, combining smart strategies with excellent commercial acumen and entrepreneurial flair.
  • Materialising sales forecasts and enhancing current portfolio: Security and automation teams
  • Implementing APCO Limited’s new strategic objectives and driving the internationalisation strategy for the Company
  • Studying industry trends and creating an effective business plan based on commercial opportunities.
  • Responsible for ensuring all business activities are in line with the organisation’s objectives.
  • Responsible for the approval of the company’s product pricing and positioning.
  • Regularly preparing reports comparing actual sales vs budgeted sales.
  • Establishing relevant business KPIs
  • Leading and mentoring a team of individuals whilst ensuring that the key resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
  • Working with the marketing team to create strategies that boost the company and product awareness.

The Requirements
The senior management role asks for an experienced, qualified professional, in possession of commercial drive, sound judgement, and sharp business acumen. The preferred candidate must have an excellent senior sales leadership track record with demonstrated experience developing and executing successful commercial strategies. S/he shall be a sales hunter, with experience in solution selling to customers. The position calls for a motivated, strategic thinking and problem solver, ideally with a technical background, who can forge and manage relationships and is well-practiced in closing a sale and managing accounts. A willingness to travel is essential.

Skills Required:

  • A Masters Level Degree in Business Administration or Commercial Degree would be considered favourable
  • Qualifications in business development and/or sales and experience working with systems integration, automation and security would be considered favourable
  • More than three years’ experience in a senior management position
  • A technical background, with experience working within the banking, retail, hospitality, and IT industries, shall be considered an asset
  • Demonstrate a profound understanding of Information Technology, with a focus on systems integration, automation, and security.
  • A network linked to the target industry with a strong track record of success in a senior sales leadership role.
  • Experience in building, scaling, and leading high-performance teams
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to quickly establish quality business relationships
  • Maintaining a positive attitude that inspires co-workers and clients to grow the business
  • Fluency in English and ideally Maltese
